6 Questions to Kick Start Marketing in Your Business

Posted on March 27th, by Chris Marr in Marketing, Strategy. 5 comments

Detailed below are 6 simple questions that you should ask yourself when thinking about starting to promote and advertise your product and services.

If you can I would advise that you get your team involved at this early stage. I’m certain that they will have some fantastic ideas and this will be a great way to get them involved in, and bought into, the marketing process.

These questions will help you think about the what, where, why, when and how  of your marketing campaign and also how you are going to measure the success of any marketing campaign, which is VERY important.

I advise that you use a brainstorming technique that you are comfortable with when asking these questions so you can capture all your thoughts and ideas in one place.

Why will someone do business with you and not your competitors?
What makes you different? What is your Unique Selling Point (USP)?
Who are your market?
Paint a picture of you preferred customer – think about the demographic, their interests, and how you can appeal to them.
Where are your target market?
Find out where your market are, which will help you when delivering your message. How can you get your message to many people at once?
What kind of message do you want to send to them?
What will appeal to your audience?
How will you deliver the message?
What media appeals to your market?
How will you know that your marketing efforts have been successful?
What can you put in place to measure the success of your campaign?

It would be great to have some input from you. Please leave comments for discussion below.

Thanks,

Chris.

  1. Hiya Chris!
Going to give this a try -

Why will someone do business with you and not your competitors?
Give them what they want at a reasonable price. Positive attitude.I have a friendly open manner.

    Who are your market?
All age groups but mainly school age children via their parents, grandparents and families.

    Where are your target market?
Schools. Newspapers. Social media. Newspapers. Radio.

What kind of message do you want to send to them?
Coach them in singing, technique, presentation, confidence building, widen their vocal and genre range. Teamwork. Assessments every 12 weeks ie showcase for family and friends. No winners all at different stages.

How will you deliver the message?
Schools. Newspapers. Social media. Newspapers. Radio.

How will you know it has been successful?
Pupils stay for a lot of years. Willingness to learn. Families are happy with their efforts. They bring along their friends. Confident enough to take part in productions at school and elsewhere.

Let me know what you think.

    Best regards

    Mary

      • Hiya, Chris!
It was really helpful and I noticed I did repeat a few comments in two boxes.
While I’m typing this I am listening to a Scottish folk singer, performing to all the kids at the school over the wall (in their gym hall) There’s another opening. The kids are singing along to a few songs they know but in my honest opinion, the kids did not know a lot of the songs, non the less they applauded. The guy sang for over an hour and repeated, more than once, songs that they knew.
A great idea to go round schools but was it the headteachers idea?
Imagine what the kids would be like if it was a boy band singing live to them. A great way to build up a fan base.

        Thanks

        Mary
